WHO IS OUR PROGRAM FOR?
Our program is meant for young people (not necessarily students), and language teachers or student travel organizations looking to offer an international experience to groups of students who want to:
- Learn a new language (Ukrainian or Russian) or improve the language they already speak - optional!!!
- Gain a unique cultural immersion experience
- Explore another country, culture and live with a host family
- Participate in a volunteer project or community service work
- Find new friends from different countries
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES:
- To familiarize young people with Ukraine, its culture, traditions, people
- To develop responsible citizens who are ready to work and cooperate harmoniously in an interdependent world
- To engage the youth of different countries in reconstruction of social and cultural establishments (hospitals, schools, kindergartens etc)
- To develop leadership, resourcefulness, a sene of responsibility, intercultural relations, capacity to adapt to new situations in young people
SAMPLE OF PROGRAM
Cultural immersion and community service in Chernivtsi, Ukraine
Program includes:
- Ukrainian or Russian language conversation courses (optional)
- Homestay with local village families, including 3 meals a day (all food in Ukraine is organic!!!)
- Local group leader who is familiar with the language and culture
- All transportation and accommodation when not with host family
- Volunteer work in community organizations: school, kindergartens, hospitals, youth centers with , elderly homes, orphanages
Cultural Activities:
- Full-day excursion in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine
- Full-day excursion in Chernivtsi, ancient capital of Bucovina
- Museum visits
- Horse-sledding, skiing, ice-climbing, ice-skating (winter only)
- Horseback riding, fishing, hunting
- Visiting and living in a traditional Native Ukrainian village
- Sport Activities
- Workshop on traditional cooking and indigenous clothing
- Walks through the mountains
Approximately 300 euro per person for a 3-week program (every extra week 100 euro per person)
